A married couple from Denholme have been able to buy twice as much home for their money without needing to move out of the village.
Brian (57), a site manager at Keelham Primary School, will be moving into a brand new two-bedroom home at Pennine View, a development of 86 private properties currently being built by developer Prospect Homes off New Road.
Brian and his wife Susan (53), a local community staff nurse, are both long-term residents of Denholme, so were delighted to have the opportunity to buy a new-build home in the area.
Brian said: “We’ve lived in Denholme for many years and didn’t want to leave the area, so when we saw Prospect Homes were building nearby we jumped at the chance to visit the development.
“At this stage in our lives we wanted to downsize our home, and Pennine View offers a range of two-bedroom houses which were perfect for us. We were amazed by the quality of the build and the finish of the development’s showhome, and knew we wanted to buy a home for ourselves straight away.
By using Part Exchange, home-hunters with an existing property to sell have the stress of finding a buyer removed by Prospect Homes, who will independently value and purchase the home, allowing buyers to make their move without the hassle of being part of a chain.
Once their new home at Pennine View was secured, Brian and Susan were then able to recommend a family member to visit the development’s showhome – where a similar result occurred.
Brian added: “One of our family members asked myself and Susan about Pennine View, so we told them to visit the showhome and see for themselves the quality of build provided by Prospect Homes.
“After seeing the homes at Pennine View, they liked the property so much that they bought one as well, using the Help to Buy scheme to give them a lift onto the property ladder with a manageable deposit.”
With Help to Buy, a new-build property in England worth up to £600,000 can be purchased with just a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage.
The remaining 20 per cent of the home’s value is provided as an equity loan by the government, which is interest-free for five years.
