A youth football team in Holmes Chapel showed their metal to win this year’s Albert Steele Cup.
Holmes Chapel Hurricanes U11 Blacks held their nerve to beat Frodsham Park in a penalty shootout after a hard-fought 1-1 score after normal time.
The Hurricanes, who play their home matches on Cranage Playing Fields, breezed past Macclesfield Tigers in the quarter finals, before beating Sandbach United in the semis to reach the showpiece occasion.
Joanna Beattie, Sponsorship Secretary for Holmes Chapel Hurricanes FC, said: “It was the first cup final for all of our U11 Blacks, so everybody was understandably nervous ahead of such a big occasion.

Christine Kynaston, Sales and Marketing Director for Prospect Homes, said: “We were delighted to hear the Holmes Chapel Hurricanes had gone all the way to the final of the cup, and to hold their nerve in such a high-pressure situation shows magnificent character.
“From all of us at Prospect Homes, we would like to extend our congratulations to the whole squad on their success and wish them the very best going forward.”
