SHE sold her old home on Facebook and now Dionne Craig is sharing her new home in Alsager with thousands via Instagram.
Dionne initially dismissed husband Andrew’s suggestion that they move to a new home built by Prospect Homes at Hall Drive Park, but their dream move soon became a reality.
“We were living in a two-bedroom home in Tunstall and wanted to move somewhere bigger eventually but had no intention of moving as we’d just got married,” Dionne recalled.
“Andrew saw that Prospect were building in Alsager and knew I loved the area – it’s my favourite little village and my dad used to work there. I didn’t think there was much point looking as I thought we wouldn’t have been able to afford it.
“When we went to view the development we both fell in love with it but I still thought it wouldn’t happen as we needed to sell our house.”
They discovered that their old home had increased in value and because they had equity in that property they had enough for a deposit on a new Prospect home.
“I’ve quite a keen eye for taking pictures so took pictures of our house and put them on Facebook saying it was going up for sale. Twenty minutes later someone messaged to say they were interested. They came to view the next day and made us an offer. It was mind-blowing but it seemed like fate,” Dionne laughed.
After selling their old home via Facebook, Dionne turned to Instagram to share her new home journey using the handle no21_home_forever_after_. Her Instagram account now has almost 5,000 followers
“I’ve always had an interest in social media and photography so when we moved here the two went hand in hand,” Dionne added.
“I love new builds. Our previous home was a new build. It’s the fact that it’s a blank canvas that you just need to add your finishing touches to rather than having to do up an older property.
“A lot of what I buy is from the high street and I love supporting interior brands on Instagram. I was gifted a vase by Vintage Peonie Interiors and it’s nice to think I’m giving something back to those businesses when times have been tough for them because of Coronavirus.”
She aded: “I’m a huge love of neutrals in the home and I like different textures. I think my style is quite elegant.
“Linen is one of my favourite fabrics and I buy all of my cushions from the Linen Edit. I like timeless pieces and love stone and natural materials.”
Dionne, 36, is on maternity leave from her work in retail. Husband Andrew, 37, is a store manager. They have a five-year-old and a five-month-old.
Dionne admits to cleaning her home to ensure it’s picture perfect and Insta-ready, but she’s not alone in doing so. Research by the HBF found that 1 in 5 Brits clean their homes especially for social media.
“My Instagram grid looks like pretty squares and I get messages from people asking how I keep my home so tidy with two children,” she laughed.
“I’m quite real about it. I will post on stories when it’s a mess and then clean up. The kitchen gets bleached every day and I’ll give a room a blitz before I take a picture. I love our home and want to keep it as nice as I can.”
Hall Drive Park offers a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, with current prices from £205,000.
Samantha Williams, head of sales for Prospect Homes, said: “It’s great to see that our homeowners are so happy with their homes that they’re sharing them on Instagram. Social media is a great way for people to share style tips, research an area or a developer before viewing in reality.”
