Unexpected Item in the Bagging Area for Broughton Couple

Jan. 09, 2020

A new development in Longridge by Prospect Homes had the Aldi effect for one young couple.

Gary Southworth and his partner Sharon Holland thought they would never be able to own their own home but after visiting the supermarket on Whittingham Road, they spotted what would be their future home at The Ridings.

“We both noticed the homes being built next door to Aldi and commented on how lovely they looked but never thought we would be able to afford anything as nice as them,” says 47-year-old Gary. “One day we went in to the show home and the sales consultant, Jasmine, told us that she could help us and she put us in touch with a financial advisor.”

Within seven weeks of initially visiting the development, the couple had bagged and moved into their new home, a two-bedroom semi-detached Rosebay.

Gary, a postman and care worker Sharon, spent their first Christmas in their new home and credit the team at Prospect Homes for giving them a much needed helping hand.

“The Rosebay really appealed to us as it has a really good sized kitchen and then a separate lounge/dining room at the back of the house so we have plenty of space. Upstairs both bedrooms are great sizes – it really is the home we both dreamt of. The Ridings is already a nice little community and we’ve met most of our neighbours with others moving in over the next few weeks.”

Gary has also just accomplished a year of being sober after giving up on New Year’s Day 2019 when an advert showing children beating cancer made him want to do something to help.

“When I saw the advert showing children ringing the bell after finishing their treatment, it spurred me on to do something meaningful. I found a local cancer foundation, Rosemere, and I initially targeted to raise £1500 for them. I hit this target really quickly so I then targeted £3000 and even though I’m still waiting for a few final donations, I’ve definitely surpassed this too. It’s been a test but I’ll be so pleased to hand over that much needed money.”

The Ridings is an exciting development close to Longridge town centre. Recently voted the UK’s happiest place, the Ribble Valley is a great place to live and The Ridings enjoys much of what the area has to offer.

The development is home to two, three and four-bedroom homes with all the attention to detail buyers can expect from a Prospect home. Homes currently available are on the newly-released phase 2 of the development and include the Heather, Bembridge and Cavendish house designs. Other available homes start from £116,500 up to £290,000.
